Vibe coding AI startup Emergent has launched Wingman, an autonomous agent that integrates with the tools professionals and businesses already use to oversee ongoing tasks.

Emergent developed its software creation platform based on the idea that the most effective technology should be available to everyone, not just those with technical expertise. The agent represents the next advancement in that vision, using the same foundational engineering principles for continuously active autonomous agents, according to the startup.

Users can operate multiple agents simultaneously, each focused on a different aspect of work, including schedule management, social media oversight, sales assistance, research analysis, and hiring.

Wingman is marketed as a reliable personal assistant that integrates seamlessly with messaging apps, such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and iMessage. It operates autonomously, managing tasks based on schedules and events, and respects your privacy by acting only when it is safe to do so.

With easy sign-ins across various tools and the ability to save preferences over time, Wingman ensures users do not have to start from scratch. Wingman also seamlessly integrates with tools like Gmail and Slack, learns user preferences over time, and allows customisation for a more intuitive experience.

“Most people aren't failing at productivity. They're buried under the smaller tasks that never stop coming,” Mukund Jha, co-founder and CEO of Emergent, said in a statement. “We proved with software creation that the right technology, built the right way, reaches everyone. Wingman applies that same principle to autonomous agents. Now, anyone can have an always-on team working in the background, not just people who know how to build one.”

Emergent says that in contrast to other autonomous agents, Wingman features a distinct separation between self-executed functions and those that require user input first. Routine tasks are carried out automatically, whereas significant actions, such as sending messages to a large audience or altering crucial information, prompt Wingman to pause and seek user approval.
