Vibecoding AI startup Emergent is set to hold VibeCon India on April 16 and 17 in Bengaluru, marking the first time its flagship selection-led hackathon is being held in India. This event offers a significant opportunity for Indian innovators, as the team that triumphs will have a direct interview with a Y Combinator partner for an upcoming cohort.
The Bengaluru edition comes at a crucial time for India’s startup landscape, coinciding closely with Y Combinator’s inaugural in-person Startup School India, scheduled for April 18. This creates a focused week to gather founders, engineers, and operators from across the country to develop, launch, and test new ideas.
“India is producing an extraordinary number of ambitious builders, many of whom are ready to move faster than traditional pathways allow,” Mukund Jha, Co-founder and CEO of Emergent, said in a statement.
VibeCon India will take place at Polaris School of Technology in Bengaluru. It has received over 20,000 applications, with a select group chosen to compete in Bengaluru.
“With VibeCon India, we want to create a focused environment where high-potential teams can test ideas, ship real products, and engage directly with the global startup ecosystem. The opportunity for the winning team to interview directly with Y Combinator reflects our focus on outcomes that can meaningfully accelerate a founder’s journey,” Jha added.
VibeCon India is backed by a diverse network of ecosystem partners that encompass venture capital, AI research, and developer infrastructure. Notable partners include Lightspeed Venture Partners, Together Fund, OpenAI, Anthropic, Amazon Web Services, Stripe, Razorpay, MongoDB, Starknet, Eigencloud, and Temporal Technologies, among others.
These organisations will offer mentorship, tools, infrastructure, and technical resources to support teams during the hackathon.
The two-day hackathon will conclude with a final judging session in which teams present their developed products. Winning teams will receive cash prizes and access to partner-backed resources to support ongoing product development.
