Ford Business Solutions (FBS) India, the global capability centre (GCC) of Ford Motor Company, has opened a new office in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, to strengthen the resilience of its global operations.
The facility, inaugurated at SVB Tech Park, is FBS’ third location in India after Chennai and Bengaluru. It will support accounting, Ford Credit, and business operations teams serving Ford’s global markets.
The new centre will act as a dedicated business continuity hub, helping Ford maintain critical operations without disruption. Spread across three floors and covering more than 82,000 sq ft, the facility can accommodate around 800 employees and is part of the company’s strategy to support global operations from India.
Gopinath Chidambaram, Technical Director for Gen AI, Cloud and Analytics at Ford Motor Company, told AIM that this GCC is focused on a specific vertical and will not look at AI operations.
Gangapriya Chakraverti, India Site Head and Managing Director of FBS, said the company selected Coimbatore because of its talent base and growing business ecosystem.
“We’ve had team members from this city working for us for some time now and seen firsthand the strength of the talent pool here. Coimbatore has also grown into a vibrant, thriving business hub, and we wanted to build a presence in a city that has so much to offer,” she added.
The centre includes more than 230 workstations on each floor, along with meeting rooms, boardrooms, focus rooms, and collaborative spaces designed for hybrid work.
The company said the opening comes as India’s GCC sector takes on greater strategic responsibilities for multinational firms. Ford said its India teams now support technology and business transformation efforts across the company’s global operations.
Keerthana Sampath, Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, said the new facility reflects the state’s position as a destination for global capability centres and knowledge-based industries.
Ford Business Solutions India employs more than 12,000 people across its operations and supports every division of Ford Motor Company worldwide. The Coimbatore centre joins the company’s Global Technology and Business Centre in Chennai and its Technology Incubation Centre in Bengaluru.
