Infineon Technologies is set to acquire Bengaluru-based C2i Semiconductors, a technology company backed by Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan, specialising in software-defined multiphase controllers and smart power stages for AI data centres.
The German semiconductor company said the deal will strengthen its power solutions for AI infrastructure and expand its engineering capabilities in India. Infineon expects to close the transaction in the third quarter of 2026. The company said the deal will also strengthen its global R&D network.
C2i develops software-defined power management systems that combine digital controls, power semiconductors, and software algorithms. Its technology can regulate power conversion in real time, helping systems respond to changing demands from AI processors.
The startup also develops system-level and vertical power delivery architectures. Infineon said these capabilities will support the development of Substrate Integrated Voltage Regulators for future AI systems.
Adam White, President of Infineon’s Power Systems division, said the acquisition will “further strengthen Infineon’s leadership in power solutions for AI data centres”. He added that it will create a centre of excellence for digital power technologies in India.
Infineon currently employs about 2,800 people in India.
C2i Founder and CEO Ram Anant said joining Infineon will give the company access to semiconductor technologies, manufacturing capabilities, and global customer relationships.
The deal will combine C2i’s digital power expertise with Infineon’s silicon, silicon carbide, and gallium nitride technologies. The companies will also develop vertical power delivery solutions for AI infrastructure.
