HCLTech has expanded its India footprint with the launch of a new Global Technology Center in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), strengthening its focus on AI-led innovation for the financial services sector while deepening industry-academia collaboration in the state.

The facility, inaugurated by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, will deliver AI-powered solutions for HCLTech’s global financial services clients. It will also function as a hub for developing next-generation technology solutions and nurturing skilled talent

Alongside the launch, HCLTech signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar and Gujarat Technological University (GTU) to promote research, innovation, and workforce development in artificial intelligence.

The partnerships will focus on AI research for financial services, software development, and industry-aligned skill-building. Students and faculty from both institutions will gain hands-on exposure to real-world technology projects and digital transformation initiatives.

“We are delighted to welcome HCLTech to GIFT City. HCLTech’s commitment to creating local jobs and nurturing local talent aligns strongly with our vision of enabling Gujarat’s youth to access global career opportunities closer to home. The launch of the Global Technology Centre and the AI Lab marks an important step in strengthening GIFT City’s innovation ecosystem and advancing its position as a leading global TechFin hub,” Sanghavi added.

Sanghavi added that HCLTech’s experience in building technology capabilities across locations would contribute significantly to Gujarat’s innovation ecosystem as GIFT City evolves into a global destination for business and technology.

Highlighting the company’s expansion strategy, C Vijayakumar, CEO and Managing Director, HCLTech, said, “We are pleased to establish our presence in the state to engineer the future of financial services clients with innovative AI solutions. At HCLTech, we look forward to contributing to the local technology ecosystem in the state and boosting industry-academia collaboration to create a pool of future-ready talent.”

The announcement reinforces GIFT City’s growing position as a technology and financial services hub, with AI emerging as a key focus area for enterprises expanding operations in the region.
