Noida-based IT services firm HCLTech has launched a new business unit focused on enterprises with annual revenues between $500 million and $5 billion, targeting companies looking to scale artificial intelligence across their businesses.
The unit, known as HCLTech Pulse, will offer services spanning AI, data, cloud, cybersecurity, engineering, application modernisation and managed services, the company said in a statement on September 17.
The move comes as enterprises outside the largest global corporations increasingly look to scale AI while dealing with legacy technology, fragmented data systems and cybersecurity requirements.
The new unit is intended to give these companies a single provider across strategy, implementation and managed operations, rather than requiring them to work with multiple specialist vendors.
“AI is rewriting the economics of growth. The real advantage goes to enterprises bold enough to reimagine their processes from the ground up, not just automate what already exists, and to do it safely and responsibly,” C Vijayakumar, CEO and Managing Director, HCLTech, said in a statement. “HCLTech Pulse combines our AI, engineering, cyber, data and industry expertise to help enterprises rethink how work gets done and turn AI investment into measurable business value.”
According to HCLTech, the segment is launching as organisations move from AI experimentation to scaled deployment, and hence the market will reward providers that combine deep technology expertise with industry context and an integrated delivery model.
The company said HCLTech Pulse will focus on areas including AI strategy and implementation, data and AI platforms, cloud transformation, application and enterprise-platform modernisation, cybersecurity, engineering and managed services.
“This segment represents an approximately $400 billion global technology-services opportunity and is growing at 7–9% annually,” said Peter Bendor-Samuel, Founder and Executive Chairman, Everest Group.
The unit is also expected to focus on responsible AI and governance as enterprises move AI systems into more consequential business processes.
The $500 million to $5 billion revenue bracket sits between smaller businesses that typically rely on specialised technology providers and large global enterprises with extensive technology estates and established relationships with major IT services companies.
For IT services firms, the segment offers an opportunity to sell a broader set of services as these companies modernise their technology foundations alongside AI adoption.
HCLTech said many companies in this category have historically had to assemble different providers for consulting, platforms, implementation and operations. Pulse is intended to consolidate those requirements under HCLTech's existing portfolio.
The company has not disclosed the initial revenue target or the size of the team dedicated to the new unit.
“HCLTech Pulse is our response to a clear, unmet need,” said Ashish Kumar Gupta, Global Head, New Business Incubation Group, HCLTech. “HCLTech serves many clients at this stage of scale and understands that the greatest value comes from bringing the right focus, senior attention and platform investments to each client’s priorities.”
