Ride-hailing company Uber will set up its first data centre in India in partnership with Adani Group, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi announced on May 13 after meeting Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad.
“Great to meet Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad this morning and build on our existing partnership with the Adani group,” Khosrowshahi said in a post on X. “As India fast emerges as a leading innovation hub for Uber, we are setting up our first data centre in the country with the Adani Group to test and deploy our tech.”
The facility is expected to be operational later this year and will support Uber’s global technology operations and product deployments from India, according to the company executive.
Responding to the announcement, Adani said on X, “A great pleasure to meet my friend Dara! What a run Uber is having! Our partnerships continue to grow.”
The announcement comes during Khosrowshahi’s ongoing five-day India visit, during which he has met senior government officials and industry leaders to discuss Uber’s investment roadmap in the country.
Earlier this week, Khosrowshahi met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed Uber’s strategic investments in India and the role of digital platforms in the country’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
He also held discussions with Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on improving airport last-mile connectivity and sustainable urban mobility initiatives.
The partnership adds to Adani Group’s broader push into digital infrastructure and data centres through AdaniConneX, its joint venture with EdgeConneX.
Back in October 2025, Adani Enterprises announced a partnership between AdaniConneX and Google to build an AI-ready data centre and clean energy ecosystem in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The project, which is expected to roll out between 2026 and 2030, could bring investments of nearly $15 billion toward hyperscale data centre capacity, subsea cable infrastructure, and renewable power systems to support AI computing demand.
