The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has approved 31 new electronics manufacturing projects. These projects carry a projected investment of ₹6,844 crore and span 10 states.
The approvals seek to expand domestic production of electronics components and raw materials. They cover 20 products, including filters, coils, speakers, optical transceivers and battery materials. The projects are expected to create 9,588 direct jobs.
The approvals form part of the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS). They take the total number of approved projects under the scheme to 106.
The latest projects include India’s first domestic manufacturing proposals for several critical components. These include filters, coils and speakers. They also cover acetylene black and electrolyte additives used in electronics supply chains.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said ECMS is building a ‘Swadeshi’ electronics value chain. He added that the scheme is moving beyond assembly into domestic component and raw material production.
The 31 projects together entail ₹7,877 crore in investment, including the additional approved investment. They are expected to generate ₹82,243 crore in production.

Additionally, Wipro Global Engineering and Electronic Materials also received approval for an additional ₹1,033 crore investment. The company will use the investment to manufacture copper-clad laminate.
The approved projects cover three sub-assemblies, 10 components and six supply chain products. They also include capital goods and their parts.
The sub-assembly projects cover camera modules, display modules and optical transceiver SFPs. Companies receiving approvals include Minda Instrument, TXB Optics and SkyQuad Electronics & Appliances.
The component projects include connectors, relays, transducers, filters, capacitors and coils. Other approved products include antennas, speakers, microphones, enclosures and metal shielding covers.
The supply chain projects include anode material, rare earth permanent magnets and acetylene black. They also cover electrolyte additives, metallised films and hermetic terminals.
The new approvals cover Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The government said 38 of the 106 approved projects have already started manufacturing. Another 16 projects have reached advanced construction or machinery installation stages.
Across all 106 projects, approved investment now stands at ₹69,548 crore. The projects are expected to generate ₹5.34 lakh crore in production and 74,628 direct jobs.
Production capacity has already exceeded domestic demand in some categories. Output reaches about 110% of demand for anode material, 350% for optical transceiver SFPs and 200% for relays.
The government launched ECMS to deepen India’s electronics supply chain. The scheme targets components, sub-assemblies, camera modules, optical transceivers and manufacturing equipment.
