Indian robotics company Genrobotics has secured a contract from PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, to deploy robotic systems for sewer and water management operations. The contract follows an international evaluation process that involved a number of companies competing for the project.

The award followed a government-appointed expert committee’s assessment of the company’s technology, operational track record, and engineering capability. The project will integrate robotic systems into Singapore’s sewer infrastructure to support inspection and maintenance tasks.

The company said the deployment marks a shift from its earlier role as a domestic sanitation technology provider to a global robotics exporter. The evaluation process focused on precision, reliability in hazardous environments, and data-driven infrastructure management.

“Our technology was engineered for the most complex environments, and Singapore’s validation confirms that our solutions meet the highest global standards for safety and efficiency,” said Vimal Govind MK, CEO and Co-Founder of Genrobotics.

Singapore now joins several markets that already use Genrobotics’ technology. Since 2022, the company has worked with Indah Water Konsortium in Malaysia on a national-scale partnership.

It has also established operations in the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

In India, Genrobotics has deployed its systems across 23 states and more than 100 cities. The company serves over 140 clients worldwide. The operational data from these deployments has helped refine its hardware systems for field reliability.

The Singapore deployment will focus on robotic inspection and cleaning of sewer networks. The systems will support monitoring and maintenance of urban water infrastructure.

The first vertical focuses on mechanised sanitation through the Bandicoot robotic system. The robot performs sewer-cleaning and inspection tasks without requiring human entry into confined spaces. Through this, Genrobotics built its global strategy around three verticals that address labour shortages and safety risks in infrastructure and industry.

The company also develops healthcare robotics designed for rehabilitation and assistive care. These systems target hospitals and healthcare facilities dealing with workforce shortages.

A third vertical focuses on industrial automation for hazardous environments, particularly in the oil and gas sector. Autonomous robotic systems reduce the need for human exposure to high-risk conditions.

The company said it will continue expanding international deployments as cities seek automated solutions for infrastructure maintenance.
