IT services major Infosys has expanded its partnership with semiconductor manufacturer GlobalFoundries, securing a multi-year mandate to manage the company's enterprise IT operation, as enterprise clients increasingly turn to artificial intelligence and automation to modernise technology infrastructure.

Under the agreement, Infosys will oversee GlobalFoundries' end-to-end application, infrastructure, data, and service desk operations, the company said in a statement.

The expanded engagement deepens Infosys' relationship with GlobalFoundries, where it has already been serving as a technology provider. The latest mandate shifts the semiconductor company's IT environment towards a managed services model that relies on AI and automation to improve operational efficiency and support functions.

GlobalFoundries, one of the world's largest contract semiconductor manufacturers, said the renewed partnership would support its broader digital transformation efforts and help improve the resilience and efficiency of its IT operations.

“The renewed collaboration marks a significant step forward in GF’s journey to modernise IT operations and achieve higher levels of efficiency, resilience and user experience,” Vishal Mehra, Chief Information Officer, GlobalFoundries, said in a statement.

For Infosys, the engagement strengthens its presence in the semiconductor sector, a vertical that has attracted growing attention from technology services companies as chipmakers ramp up investments in digital infrastructure and AI capabilities.

“By combining our deep domain expertise, AI capabilities and an outcome-based operating model, we will help GF reduce incidents, improve end-user experiences, and sustainably lower TCO over the long term. Infosys will unlock AI value at scale to play a central role in driving intelligent operations, helping GF transition from reactive IT management to predictive and autonomous service delivery,” said Anand Swaminathan, Executive Vice President and Global Industry Leader for Communications, Media & Technology, Infosys.
