L&T Semiconductor Technologies Limited (LTSCT) and Tata Electronics have partnered to expand the indigenous manufacturing of India-designed semiconductor products for global customers.
The partnership will explore chip fabrication and packaging opportunities for LTSCT’s existing and future products across Tata Electronics’ range of semiconductor process technologies and packaging solutions. The companies will also work on design-to-fabrication optimisation to improve manufacturing efficiency and support production at scale.
The companies aim to build domestic design and manufacturing capabilities for next-generation semiconductor products across automotive, industrial, communications, security, and intelligent-edge applications.
“Semiconductor leadership will increasingly be defined not just by design breakthroughs but by the ability to industrialise those designs through advanced packaging and manufacturing. At LTSCT, we see this as India’s opportunity to move up the value chain. Our engagement with Tata Electronics is a decisive step in building those capabilities, ensuring that the next generation of semiconductor products can be designed in India and delivered to global markets with speed, reliability and scale”, Sandeep Kumar, Chief Executive, L&T Semiconductor Technologies Limited, said in a statement.
The partnership brings together LTSCT’s semiconductor design and engineering expertise with Tata Electronics’ growing capabilities across semiconductor manufacturing, packaging, and testing.
The companies said the collaboration will focus not only on manufacturing existing chip products but also on integrating design and fabrication considerations earlier in the product development cycle. This could help optimise chip designs for manufacturability while improving time-to-market and supply chain resilience.
“Tata Electronics is establishing world-class semiconductor manufacturing capabilities in India to provide trusted, high-quality solutions across the semiconductor value chain to our domestic and global customers. Our partnership with LTSCT is a significant step which will accelerate India’s vision of becoming a full-stack semiconductor nation, by combining L&T Semiconductor’s deep fabless design and engineering expertise with our capabilities across semiconductor manufacturing, packaging and testing”, said Randhir Thakur, CEO and MD, Tata Electronics.
The companies said they will work together on packaging technologies, manufacturing excellence and quality systems as part of efforts to strengthen India’s semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem.
The focus on fabrication and advanced packaging comes as India seeks to build capabilities across the semiconductor value chain, moving beyond chip design and software engineering into manufacturing, assembly, testing and packaging.
