Cyient Semiconductors, a custom ASIC and ASSP chip provider based in Hyderabad, has completed the acquisition of San Jose-based Kinetic Technologies.
The company has acquired a 74% stake in the company with an investment of $85 million. This is below the $93 million commitment announced in December last year, while signing a definitive agreement with Kinetic.
The deal brings Kinetic Technologies under Cyient Semiconductors’ platform while retaining its current leadership and operations.
The investment aims to build a semiconductor platform from India for global markets, focusing on power and compute infrastructure.
The companies said the partnership will combine Cyient’s spec‑to‑silicon engineering capabilities with Kinetic’s portfolio of power management and protection integrated circuits. Kinetic brings more than 100 silicon-proven IPs and over 250 products to the platform.
Suman Narayan, CEO of Cyient Semiconductors, said in a statement, “Kinetic Technologies’ proven leadership in power and protection ICs, combined with our custom silicon and ASSP expertise and access to world-class talent and manufacturing ecosystems, positions us to drive the next wave of intelligent power semiconductor solutions across critical markets.”
He added that the partnership positions the company to drive intelligent power semiconductor solutions across key markets. The company also aims to scale operations across high-growth semiconductor segments.
The companies said the collaboration will support innovation, expand market reach, and contribute to chip development and manufacturing in India under the India Semiconductor Mission.
The combined entity will integrate design expertise with an established product portfolio to expand customer reach and operational capacity. While Kinetic will continue to operate under its leadership, Cyient will provide strategic oversight. Engineering and customer teams will remain unchanged to ensure continuity.
“This partnership expands our engineering capacity and manufacturing in India, accelerates our R&D roadmap,” Kin Shum, CEO of Kinetic Technologies, noted, adding that it will help address complex power challenges.
The companies plan to strengthen their presence in global markets by combining design, manufacturing, and customer capabilities. The partnership aims to deliver custom power semiconductor solutions for computing and industrial applications.
