Vyoma.AI, Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) AI cloud and data centre business, has broken ground on a 52 MW AI-ready data centre in Chennai as it expands its infrastructure to support AI workloads and cloud computing.
The company held a groundbreaking ceremony for the facility on October 28. The data centre will use direct-to-chip liquid cooling technology to manage heat generated by high-density computing workloads. It will also integrate renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies.
The facility is part of L&T’s planned gigawatt-scale AI Factory campus in Chennai. The campus already hosts an operational 30 MW facility with AI compute clusters and has 150 MVA of power infrastructure readiness, according to the company.
“The groundbreaking of our 52 MW Chennai data centre marks a significant step in strengthening India’s digital infrastructure ecosystem,” said Prashant Chiranjive Jain, Managing Director of Vyoma.AI.
“As AI adoption accelerates, the data centre is being designed to deliver the performance, scalability and resilience required for next-generation workloads while advancing sustainable, low-carbon digital infrastructure,” he added.
The new facility will serve hyperscalers, neocloud providers and AI companies that require computing infrastructure for their workloads.
Vyoma.AI said the project is part of its expansion plans to build more than 250 MW of data centre capacity across India. The company offers sovereign cloud services, GPU-as-a-Service, hyperscale colocation and other data centre infrastructure.
India’s data centre sector is expanding as companies invest in infrastructure to support cloud adoption and AI computing. The growth of AI workloads has increased demand for facilities that can accommodate high-density computing systems and the power and cooling infrastructure they require.
