Mahindra & Mahindra has deployed AI-powered voice agents in partnership with ElevenLabs to manage customer outreach and inquiries during the launch of its flagship SUV, the XUV 7XO.

Ahead of the January launch, Mahindra AI, the group’s dedicated AI division, faced the challenge of handling a sharp spike in inbound and outbound customer interactions, a phenomenon typically associated with major vehicle launches. These included reconnecting with fresh and previously lost leads, responding to customer queries, registering inquiries, and booking test drives.

Instead of rapidly scaling conventional call center operations, Mahindra AI deployed ‘nAIna’, its conversational AI voice agent powered by ElevenLabs’ text-to-speech technology. The system was designed to automate outbound calls at scale while maintaining natural-sounding, low-latency interactions.

The AI voice agents enabled always-on customer engagement, allowing Mahindra to continue outreach and support beyond traditional call centre hours. The deployment was aimed at maintaining conversation quality during peak demand periods without significantly increasing operational overhead.

According to the company, ElevenLabs provided the voice layer that made interactions more responsive and human-like. By integrating ElevenLabs’ text-to-speech API into Mahindra’s existing workflows, the automaker expanded outbound calling capacity while ensuring a consistent customer experience.

Mahindra said the deployment delivered measurable business outcomes, including additional qualified inquiries and an approximately 8% uplift in conversions compared to previous outreach methods.

The company views the XUV 7XO rollout as a proof point for using AI voice agents as a force multiplier during high-demand events such as vehicle launches. By automating first-contact conversations and inquiry handling, dealership and human support teams were able to focus on higher-intent customer interactions and follow-ups.

“Large-scale launches need new ways to manage customer conversations. During the XUV 7XO launch, our partnership with ElevenLabs helped us successfully deploy AI voice agents to support peak demand and helped route queries to dealerships,” said Manjari Upadhye, Chief Marketing  Officer, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd.

Mahindra AI said it plans to extend the use of AI voice agents beyond launch campaigns into broader customer engagement workflows, creating what it describes as an always-on intelligent voice layer across the automotive lifecycle.
