The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA) have committed to invest ₹500 crore to accelerate India’s AI ecosystem.

As part of the programme, the Impact AI PitchFest, supported by the IVCA, provided a structured platform for AI founders to present solutions to leading venture capital investors. The PitchFest featured 31 AI-native startups building deployable solutions across enterprise and public-impact sectors.

In a key announcement, 16 IVCA member venture capital funds—including 3one4 Capital, Accel, Antler, Chiratae Ventures, PeakXV Partners, Prosus, and SenseAI—collectively committed ₹500 crore to support high-potential AI startups aligned with the platform.

Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, MeitY and CEO, IndiaAI Mission, said, “The Impact AI PitchFest reflects the growing maturity of India’s AI ecosystem. It is encouraging to see structured alternate capital participation supporting startups that are building deployable, scalable solutions. Such collaboration between government and industry will be central to strengthening India’s leadership in trusted and responsible AI.”

Meanwhile, Prashanth Prakash, Founding Partner at Accel India and Co-Chair of the VC Council, IVCA, said, “What we saw at the PitchFest was genuinely exciting. The breadth of applications was striking. Teams tackling everything from recruitment and education to healthcare and defence, all with deployable AI solutions. But more than the sectors, it was the quality of founders that stood out.”

Notably, Indian startups are expected to innovate across the entire AI stack, including applications, tooling, models, and chips, said Rajan Anandan, Managing Director at Peak XV and Co-Chair of the VC Council at IVCA. He noted that India already has more consumer AI startups than the United States and projected that this trend would continue to accelerate over the next several years.
