Meta has signed new agreements with data centre developer Crusoe to secure additional artificial intelligence (AI) computing capacity, according to a Bloomberg report. The move comes as the social media giant continues to expand the infrastructure needed to support its growing AI ambitions.

The report, citing people familiar with the matter, said Meta will buy computing capacity from Crusoe at two data centres, which will provide Meta with access to more computing resources required for AI model training and deployment.

AIM reached out to Meta but did not get a response at the time of publication.

The agreement is the latest in a series of infrastructure investments by Meta as it looks to strengthen its position in the global AI race. The company has been aggressively securing access to data centres, cloud infrastructure, power resources, and AI chips to support large-scale AI workloads.

Crusoe has emerged as a significant player in the AI infrastructure ecosystem. Earlier this month, the company said it had contracted nearly 4.9 gigawatts of AI infrastructure capacity across its data centre projects and cloud platform.

The deal also underscores the growing importance of data centre developers in the AI industry. As AI models become more powerful and computationally intensive, companies are increasingly seeking long-term partnerships to secure access to computing resources and energy infrastructure.

Meta has been particularly active on this front. In recent months, the company expanded its AI cloud partnership with CoreWeave, signed infrastructure agreements in India, and secured long-term access to NVIDIA's advanced AI chips as part of its broader strategy to scale AI operations globally.
