NxtGen AI plans to deploy a national-scale sovereign AI factory in India, which will be powered by 4,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and feature data centre infrastructure delivered by Vertiv.
The deployment uses Dell Integrated Rack Scalable Systems (IR5000) running on Dell PowerEdge XE9685L liquid-cooled servers. The facility is designed to support AI training and inference within India’s sovereign cloud framework.
Vertiv is providing the power and thermal infrastructure for the AI factory. The company’s scope includes distribution transformers, switchboards, uninterruptible power supply systems, room power distribution units, racks and rack power distribution units.
On the thermal side, the deployment includes liquid cooling systems such as Coolant Distribution Units, modular secondary piping infrastructure skids, perimeter cooling systems and heat-rejection units. The design uses ambient-temperature water for direct heat removal.
“Vertiv’s experience in designing and deploying high-density AI data centres globally, combined with its ability to execute at speed, supports our vision of strengthening India’s sovereign AI capabilities,” said AS Rajgopal, MD and CEO, NxtGen AI.
Vertiv said it is also supplying a power train supported by lithium-ion battery-based energy storage systems. The company stated that lithium-ion batteries offer longer service life and lower replacement cycles compared to lead-acid systems.
“Vertiv’s 360AI approach enables NxtGen AI to deploy a highly efficient, scalable, and future-ready infrastructure that supports the latest generation Dell compute systems accelerated by NVIDIA Blackwell, delivering industry-leading power efficiency and cost-effective AI operations,” said Subhasis Majumdar, Managing Director, Vertiv India.
The project is supported by Vertiv’s India-based supply chain and service network, including its Integrated Business Services hub in Pune. The deployment is positioned to support demand for sovereign cloud and AI infrastructure across enterprises, startups and public-sector organisations.
