Bengaluru-based fintech platform PayU has partnered with CoRover.ai, the creator of BharatGPT, to enable agentic, voice-based digital payments across more than 100 Indian languages and dialects.
The collaboration aims to integrate PayU’s payment infrastructure with CoRover’s conversational AI platform to create multilingual, voice-first payment experiences. The companies said the partnership will allow AI agents to initiate and complete transactions directly within chat or voice interactions.
The companies say the goal is to simplify digital commerce for the next 500 million users in the country, many of whom primarily interact with technology through voice and regional languages.
Through the partnership, PayU’s payment gateway and compliance framework will be integrated into BharatGPT-powered conversational interfaces. This would allow users to perform tasks such as making purchases, paying bills, or completing online transactions simply by speaking or chatting with an AI assistant.
One of the early use cases is voice-based UPI payments on Afterlife, a digital succession-planning platform that uses CoRover’s voice AI technology. PayU is also powering payments for Kanhaji.ai, an AI-driven devotional platform recently launched by CoRover.
The companies said the collaboration will span multiple sectors, including e-commerce, travel, OTT services, and banking and financial services. They are also exploring the integration of new features from National Payments Corporation of India, such as UPI Circle and UPI Reserve Pay, which could allow AI agents to manage and execute payments within conversational interfaces.
Manas Mishra, Chief Product Officer at PayU, said in a statement, “Trust and compliance will remain central as AI begins handling financial transactions”. He noted that the next phase of digital payments will increasingly occur inside AI-led conversations, especially as voice-first internet adoption grows across India.
Ankush Sabharwal, CEO of CoRover.ai, added that integrating PayU’s payment infrastructure with BharatGPT could enable seamless commerce where AI understands user intent, completes tasks, and executes payments within a single conversation.
The companies said the broader aim is to build AI-led payment systems that combine conversational interfaces with secure financial infrastructure, supporting the next wave of digital adoption across India’s multilingual internet ecosystem.
