ST Telemedia Global Data Centres India (STT GDC India) has strengthened its presence in Chennai with the launch of its fourth data centre, expanding its second campus at Siruseri.
The Siruseri campus is being developed as a 45 MW AI-ready facility, with the first phase of 7.2 MW now operational. The new facility is part of STT GDC India’s broader investment commitment of ₹4,200 crore in Tamil Nadu to build next-generation data centre infrastructure.
The data centre was inaugurated on February 12 by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, as the Tamil Nadu government aggressively pushes to attract large-scale digital infrastructure investments.
STT GDC India already operates 40 MW at its Ambattur campus in Chennai. Earlier this month, the company also broke ground on STT Chennai 4 at the same site, taking the total development potential in the city to nearly 130 MW, including existing operational capacity.
With these expansions, the company aims to serve accelerating demand from hyperscalers, enterprises, and cloud service providers, as AI adoption and data-intensive workloads continue to surge.
The company recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tamil Nadu government, outlining plans to invest ₹4,200 crore in state-of-the-art, AI-ready data centre infrastructure.
Commenting on the Siruseri campus launch, Bimal Khandelwal, Chief Executive Officer, STT GDC India, said in a statement, “Siruseri has been purpose-built to support hyperscalers and enterprises as they scale seamlessly and sustainably. With strong policy support from the Government of Tamil Nadu and growing customer momentum, we see Chennai playing a defining role in India’s AI and digital transformation.”
Beyond Chennai, STT GDC India is executing one of the largest expansion phases in its history, with strategic MoUs signed with the governments of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh to develop large-scale, AI-ready data centre campuses.
Expansion is underway across key digital corridors, including Mumbai, Noida, Pune, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, enabling geographically diversified, high-availability infrastructure for customers across India’s major economic centres.
Aligned with India’s digital growth roadmap, the company is also evaluating long-term strategic options, including a potential initial public offering (IPO) in the first half of 2027 to strengthen capital access and accelerate nationwide expansion.
Currently, STT GDC India operates 30 data centres across 10 cities, with over 400 MW of critical IT load capacity, making it one of the country’s largest data centre platforms.
Through sustained investments in AI-ready infrastructure, the company looks to position itself at the core of India’s cloud, AI, and enterprise transformation
