Supabase’s primary domain, supabase.co, is currently inaccessible to users across multiple Indian internet service providers following what the company said was a ministry order, blocking access for developers and users in the country.
Addressing Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw, Supabase wrote on X, “We have recently become aware that the domain http://supabase.co is inaccessible to users across multiple Indian ISPs, including Jio, Airtel, and ACT Fibernet, due to a ministry order.”
“Supabase is used by millions of developers worldwide, and millions of users in India are currently unable to access our platform due to these blocks. Could we talk to someone in your team about this?” it added.
The company said network operators, including Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and ACT Fibernet, were affected.

In a separate update dated February 25, Supabase said, “If you’re using JioFiber in India, you may need to use a VPN to connect to Supabase, or switch your DNS to 1.1.1.1. Supabase infrastructure remains fully operational—the issue appears to be an ISP-level block. We have reached out to Jio.”
“We have received some reports that other ISPs in India may be impacted by access limitations. We continue to follow up through all available channels to resolve this issue. We have engaged multiple teams at Supabase communicating with multiple entities in India in an effort to do all we can to resolve the access issues our users in India are experiencing,” the company later clarified.
Supabase advised affected customers to report the issue to their internet service providers and to use an alternative DNS provider or a VPN as a temporary workaround. It said updates would be posted on its status page.
Supabase is a backend-as-a-service provider that offers developers hosted databases built on PostgreSQL, real-time APIs, authentication services, file storage, and serverless functions. It positions itself as an open-source alternative to proprietary cloud backend services, allowing developers to build and scale applications without managing infrastructure.
Founded in 2020, Supabase says it serves millions of developers globally, with users spanning startups, individual developers, and enterprises building web and mobile applications.
