Call it the hangover Gravity effect, but space is big in 2017. Here we explore 10 upcoming movies this year that have everything related to outer space, from spacecraft to aliens, from unexplored exoplanets to future intergalactic worlds. Something to look forward to.

    Alien: Covenant

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members (Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup) of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise. While there, they meet David (Michael Fassbender), the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival.

    Alien Nation

The 1988 buddy cop alien thriller is being revitalized with a 2017 reboot. In the near future of Los Angeles humans live alongside extraterrestrial humanoid beings whose spaceship crash landed three years earlier. This coexistence is not always harmonious, as exemplified by segregated slums.

    Alpha Squad Seven

Dreamworks lands Dwayne The Rock Johnson (busy guy this year!) to star in this action-packed space comedy some are comparing to Guardians of the Galaxy.

    Animorphs

The film adaptation of K.A. Applegate’s Animorphs series is finally being made. The Animorphs books followed a group of teens who come across a crashed alien spaceship. The dying alien grants them each the power to transform into any animal they think of, as they dub themselves the Animorphs. The young teens use these new powers to take on a group of aliens who have invaded our planet in secret, disguised as humans. Definitely a childhood favorite, I’m personally really excited to see this.
