Mathangi Sri, head of data at GoJek, in January left PhonePe and joined Indonesia’s fastest-growing unicorn Gojek. The firm offers a wide range of services that include ordering food, commuting, digital payments, shopping, hyper-local delivery, among others. With numerous accomplishment at PhonePe, Mathangi has now moved to help Indonesia’s largest food delivery company.

While talking to Analytics India Magazine about accepting new challenges and the job role at GoJek, She said “As a head of data for GoFood, I am responsible for strategising as well as delivering key results for GoFood across data sciences, analytics and fraud. We solve a myriad of problems in the area of information retrieval, NLP, consumer and driver behaviour.” 

Gojek has a state of the art infrastructure to scale and deploy the models in real-time. The KRs based operating model provides a very clear and razor-sharp focus for a data scientist to continually improve their own benchmarks. A multicultural environment also opens up your horizon to different possibilities and different ways of thinking.

Mathangi has been in the data science landscape for 15 years and has assisted different companies such as [24]7.ai, Citibank India, Nanolocal Technologies, and PhonePe, achieve their business objectives by utilising various data-driven approaches. 

She is an influencer in the data science and a promoter for women in data science to help bring the diversity in the market. Over the year, she has contributed to the community with more than 20 patents across machine learning, NLP, and more. Mathangi also actively attends various conferences and summits, where she presents about the latest developments in the data science space. Besides, she actively mentors various aspirants, working professionals by directing them in the right direction to achieve their goals in a highly competitive landscape.
