The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare will soon launch an AI-enabled Common Single Pension Portal for the benefit of pensioners and elder citizens. This will also help seamless processing, tracking and disbursal of pension, said Union Minister Jitendra Singh.
Interacting with beneficiaries of Bhavishya, the portal for pension payment and tracking system, he said, the AI-driven portal would send automatic alerts to pensioners and superannuated elderly citizens to bring complete ‘ease of living’.
Out of the 1 lakh plus Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) processed, over 96 thousand e-PPOs have been issued through Bhavishya. Bhavishya ranks third in the recently released NeSDA-2021 assessment among all the central government portals.
The portal will enable constant contact with pensioners and their countrywide associations. It will also regularly receive their inputs, suggestions, and grievances for a prompt response.
Singh said Bhavishya had ensured end-to-end digitisation of the pension processing and payment in tune with the government’s objective of transparency, digitisation and service delivery. He also advised conducting pre-retirement workshops at regular intervals to counsel them and learn from their experiences.
The platform was made mandatory for all central government departments in 2017 and is currently implemented in the main secretariat of 97 ministries/departments.
Bhavishya 8.0 was released in August 2020 with a new feature to PUSH the ePPO in Digilocker. It is the first application to use the PUSH technology of Digilocker. It allows retiring employees to link their Digilocker accounts to get e-PPO.
The system has now been made available as a mobile application.
Shri V Srinivas, Secretary, Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, said that PPO in Digilocker eliminates the delay in forwarding PPO to new pensioners and the necessity of handing over a physical copy.
Every stakeholder has a deadline to complete their part of the pension process. This prevents the necessity to chase a file before his retirement. In addition, since the software is updated with the latest pension rules, the pension calculation is accurate and per the rule.
