IIIT-Hyderabad to launch ML course for chemistry and drug design

The course has a participation fee of Rs 7,500 for undergraduate and Masters students, Rs 15,000 for Ph D students and Rs 30,000 for industry members.

The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad and IHub-Data have collaborated to launch a 12-week course on ‘Machine Learning for Chemistry and Drug Design’, starting from March 10. The course will offer a lesson on the basics of AI/ML and their application in drug design and discovery.

The course is open to students, researchers and professionals who have a background in science. Participants must have studied maths at the +2 level. Apart from this, an understanding of any basic programming language would be an added advantage. The 12-week program will cover issues related to drug discovery that AI can resolve and a hands-on experience of using the basic tools and libraries like Python, PyTorch, scikit learn, Numpy and Pandas.

A statement released by IIIT-H said, “There would be a series of lectures covering topics in both sciences and AI/ML to help build a strong theoretical foundation. The course will also offer hands-on tutorial sessions to help the participants pick up practical problem-solving abilities.”

Besides faculty from IIIT-H who will teach the course, the course will also include ML experts to work with students on their projects.

The course has a participation fee of Rs 7,500 for undergraduate and Masters students,

Rs 15,000 for Ph D students and Rs 30,000 for industry members.
