Kavita Bhatia

Kavita Bhatia has played a central role in shaping responsible AI governance under the IndiaAI Mission. As COO of the IndiaAI Mission and Group Coordinator for the Emerging Technologies Division at MeitY, she has been involved in major milestones—from UNESCO AI Readiness Assessment consultations, to the GPAI Summit and the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

At the India AI Impact Summit, the IndiaAI Mission, under her leadership, achieved a Guinness World Record for the most pledges received for an AI responsibility campaign in 24 hours, engaging over 2.5 lakh students in partnership with Intel India.

She also oversaw the launch of the Kaushal Rath—a mobile AI lab initiative under the National AI Literacy Programme, designed to deliver immersive digital learning at the grassroots level.

Bhatia contributed significantly to India AI Governance Guidelines, envisioned as a foundational reference for policymakers, researchers, and industry to foster national and international cooperation for safe, responsible, and inclusive AI adoption.
