Pratyush Kumar

Pratyush Kumar has been at the forefront of India’s sovereign AI movement through Sarvam AI. In the past year, he has led the development of Sarvam-30B and Sarvam-105B, two sovereign foundation models trained from scratch in India and open-sourced as part of the IndiaAI Mission, marking an important milestone in the country’s AI capabilities.

His vision extends beyond building foundation models to creating a full-stack AI ecosystem that enables developers, enterprises, and public institutions to build AI applications tailored for India’s unique linguistic and societal needs. With him at the helm, Sarvam has emerged as one of India's most prominent AI model developers, advancing the country's ambition to build indigenous AI technologies.

Kumar believes India’s defining AI shift is its growing determination to build rather than merely consume AI. He sees the country’s future in developing homegrown AI technologies that solve problems at population scale while contributing to the global AI ecosystem.
