AIM 100: India's Most Influential People Shaping AI in 2026
Romal Shetty
CEO, Deloitte South Asia

Over the past year, Romal Shetty has positioned Deloitte South Asia at the forefront of enterprise AI adoption, steering the firm’s transition from advisory-led engagements to AI-enabled business transformation. Since he took over, Deloitte expanded its AI capabilities through the launch of GenW.AI, a suite of India-developed AI solutions designed to help enterprises rapidly deploy generative AI across business functions. He also oversaw the release of Deloitte’s enterprise AI research, highlighting how Indian organisations are moving beyond experimentation to operationalising AI across customer service, software development, and internal operations.
Beyond products and consulting, Shetty has consistently called for India to build AI with speed and intent. Across industry forums, he has argued that India’s combination of digital public infrastructure, engineering talent and entrepreneurial ecosystem creates a unique opportunity to lead the global AI economy. Rather than treating AI as another technology cycle, he has advocated for boardroom-level adoption, urging enterprises to reimagine business models instead of simply automating existing processes.
