Tesla head Elon Musk tweeted that Tesla AI Day has been postponed to September 30. The reason – the working prototype of Optimus, Tesla’s ambitious humanoid robot, will be running by then. The humanoid robot was first introduced in August 2021 at the inaugural Tesla event. Musk had said then that the ‘Tesla Bot’ humanoid robot will have the potential to be more significant than the vehicle business over time.
Optimus is 173 centimetres tall and weighs 57 kilograms. It will have a carrying capacity of 20 kilograms and will be controlled by the AI systems that Tesla is deploying in its electric vehicles. Musk said that Optimus is “intended to be friendly” and ensured that it is built on a mechanical and physical level. The user can overpower the robot’s five feet eight inches frames, and its face will feature a display screen, and it would be able to carry a cargo of up to 20 kilograms in weight, with a walking speed of eight kilometres per hour.” “Tesla is arguably the world’s biggest robotics company. Our cars are basically semi-sentient robots on wheels,” Musk had then said.
