Anthropic hopes to make its 50% increase to weekly Claude Code usage limits permanent, although the company warned that strong demand for its models could constrain capacity in the coming weeks.
The company has also extended the current promotion through August 31.
The increase, which began on May 13, gives eligible Claude Code users 50% higher weekly usage limits. Anthropic said it plans to assess whether the higher limits can become a permanent change to its paid plans, but has not committed to a date.
“We hope to make this a permanent change to our plans,” Anthropic said on X, adding that “strong demand for our models means that capacity may be tight over the coming weeks”.
The promotion applies to Claude Code users on Pro, Max and Team plans, along with legacy seat-based Enterprise users. Free users and consumption-based Enterprise seats are excluded.
The increase applies only to weekly Claude Code limits. Anthropic’s five-hour usage limits are unchanged, meaning the promotion does not increase the amount users can consume within each five-hour window.
The higher limits apply across Claude Code’s CLI, IDE extensions, desktop application and web interface. Usage limits for other Claude products, including Claude on the web, desktop and mobile, and Claude Cowork, remain unchanged.
Eligible users need no action. Anthropic said the increased limits are applied automatically, and users can check their updated allowance by running ‘/usage’ in the Claude Code CLI.
If the company does not make the change permanent, weekly Claude Code limits will return to standard levels after August 31 at 11.59 pm PT. Anthropic said the promotion does not change users’ plans or billing.
Anthropic has also been expanding Claude Code’s deployment options. Earlier this month, it added self-hosted environments that let Team and Enterprise customers run Claude Code web, mobile, and desktop sessions on their own machines or containers.
The company has also added gateway spend limits to usage warnings and a fallback-model setting that can automatically switch to up to three configured models when the primary model is unavailable.
