Indian drone company BonV Aero has partnered with Israel-based ParaZero Technologies to deploy a counter-drone system in India, the companies said. The agreement gives BonV Aero exclusive rights to bring ParaZero’s DefendAir system to Indian defence and security agencies and to manufacture it locally in the future.
The system targets growing drone threats across borders and coastal regions, where existing countermeasures such as radio-frequency jamming face limits. The companies said DefendAir uses a kinetic approach to intercept drones mid-air without disrupting communication systems, making it suitable for sensitive locations.
“The threat landscape has changed, and India’s response capability must adapt accordingly,” Satyabrata Satapathy, Co-founder and CEO of BonV Aero, said in a statement. “DefendAir is designed to operate in conditions where conventional countermeasures fall short.”
India has seen rising drone incursions along land borders and increased use of unmanned aerial vehicles in smuggling and conflict zones. According to a recent report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs, about two or three drones were sighted every day, and one drone incursion was reported daily along India’s international borders over the past five years. Many of these drones operate autonomously or use encrypted signals, which reduces the effectiveness of jamming systems.
Regulatory limits also restrict the use of jammers near airports, nuclear sites, and other critical infrastructure. This has created demand for alternatives that do not interfere with the electromagnetic spectrum.
DefendAir uses a net-launching mechanism to capture drones in flight. The system allows agencies to recover intercepted drones intact for analysis and intelligence gathering, the companies said.
ParaZero CEO Ariel Alon said the partnership creates a pathway to integrate tested systems into India’s security framework. “The system is built for border security, protection of strategic assets, convoy movement, and urban operations,” he said.
The alliance also includes harnessing ParaZero’s DropAir, a platform for autonomous delivery in high-altitude and remote areas. BonV Aero said the partnership positions it to support defence forces, paramilitary units, and central agencies with new aerial systems.
BonV Aero focuses on heavy-lift electric aerial vehicles and autonomous systems. ParaZero, listed on Nasdaq, develops safety and counter-drone technologies for the global drone industry.
