Global data and AI company EXL has expanded its operations in Chennai, adding capacity for 265 employees and increasing the facility’s total capacity to around 550 employees. The move reflects the company’s continued investment in artificial intelligence, analytics and healthcare-focused solutions as enterprises increasingly adopt AI-driven technologies.
The expanded Chennai centre will support EXL’s growing healthcare and payment integrity businesses, bringing together professionals specialising in AI, advanced analytics, data science and healthcare operations.
The company said the facility will play a key role in developing solutions that help healthcare organisations improve payment accuracy, detect fraud, reduce wastage and improve operational efficiency.
“Chennai has emerged as an important destination for technology, analytics and business services talent, making it a natural choice for our continued expansion,” said Vikas Bhalla, President and Head of AI Services and Operations at EXL.
The expansion comes as EXL deepens its focus on enterprise AI. Earlier this week, the company announced it had achieved Gold Tier Status in the Databricks Partner Program, strengthening its collaboration with Databricks to help enterprises build trusted, secure data foundations for AI adoption.
Through its EXLdata.ai platform, the company aims to help organisations improve data governance, transparency, compliance, and security areas that have become increasingly important as businesses move AI projects from pilot stages to large-scale deployment.
The Chennai expansion is expected to create new opportunities across AI engineering, product development, data analytics and healthcare consulting. It also reinforces Chennai’s position as a growing technology and innovation hub.
Headquartered in New York, EXL employs more than 67,000 people globally and serves clients across industries including healthcare, insurance, banking, retail, media and energy. The company recently raised its 2026 revenue guidance after reporting strong first-quarter growth reflecting rising demand for AI-powered business solutions.
