Google DeepMind has entered a strategic research partnership with Agile Robots SE, a global leader in intelligent robotics solutions, to advance the next generation of AI-driven robotics for real-world industrial applications.
The collaboration centres on integrating DeepMind’s Gemini Robotics foundation models with Agile Robots’ scalable industrial robotics platform.
The goal is to create adaptable, reasoning robots capable of operating reliably in complex, high-value manufacturing environments.
The partnership reflects a shared belief that applying artificial intelligence in the physical world will be transformative. By combining cutting-edge AI models with proven robotics hardware and deployment capabilities, the companies aim to push the boundaries of intelligent automation.
Agile Robots, which has already deployed more than 20,000 robotic systems globally, will provide real-world infrastructure for testing and scaling these technologies. Meanwhile, Google DeepMind will contribute advanced AI models designed to improve robotic perception, reasoning and decision-making.
A key element of the collaboration is the creation of a continuous improvement loop. Robots deployed in industrial settings will generate operational data, which will be used to refine AI models. These improved models will then enhance robotic performance, enabling broader deployment and more complex use cases over time.
Zhaopeng Chen, CEO and Founder of Agile Robots, said the integration of Gemini Robotics models places the company at the forefront of a rapidly expanding market for intelligent automation. He emphasised the potential for autonomous production systems to transform entire industries.
Meanwhile, Carolina Parada, Senior Director and Head of Robotics at Google DeepMind, described the partnership as a significant step towards scaling the real-world impact of AI across sectors.
Initially, the focus will be on industrial and manufacturing applications where reliability, precision and scalability are critical, particularly in sectors facing rising demand for flexible automation.
