IBM has expanded its footprint in India with the launch of a new IBM Consulting FutureNow Centre in Visakhapatnam, aimed at supporting global consulting delivery and accelerating AI-driven digital transformation projects for clients worldwide.
The new centre will provide consulting and technology services across key domains including artificial intelligence (AI), hybrid cloud, software engineering, cybersecurity, data and analytics, and enterprise transformation. It will also serve as a hub for AI-first cloud transformation, platform engineering, service integration, quality engineering, and user experience services.
The launch comes as Andhra Pradesh seeks to position Visakhapatnam as a major destination for technology investments, AI innovation, and digital services.
“IBM’s FutureNow Centre is a strong endorsement of Visakhapatnam’s emergence as a global hub for artificial intelligence, digital services and technology-led innovation. Our vision is not merely to attract technology investments, but to build a complete ecosystem that creates high-quality employment, develops future-ready talent and enables young people from Andhra Pradesh to participate in the global digital economy,” said Nara Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh Minister of IT, Electronics and HRD.
IBM said the FutureNow Centre reflects its strategy of expanding innovation and delivery capabilities in emerging technology hubs across India. The company noted that Visakhapatnam’s growing digital talent pool, strong academic institutions, and evolving technology ecosystem make it a strategic location for supporting global client engagements while creating opportunities for local professionals.
“At IBM, we are committed to helping build the capabilities that enable our clients to accelerate AI adoption and other emerging technologies that create lasting value. The IBM Consulting FutureNow Centre in Visakhapatnam reflects this commitment, while reinforcing India’s role as a global destination for innovation and technology delivery,” said Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India and South Asia.
The company said the centre will play a key role in helping enterprises accelerate AI adoption and digital transformation initiatives while strengthening IBM’s consulting delivery network.
“Vizag offers a compelling combination of emerging digital talent, strong academic institutions and a growing technology ecosystem, making it an important location for supporting client transformation journeys. Through the IBM Future Now Centre, we are bringing together technology expertise and local talent to help clients accelerate AI and digital transformation while creating meaningful opportunities for the region's next generation of technology professionals,” said Usha Srikanth, Managing Partner, IBM Consulting FutureNow Centre, India.
With the addition of Visakhapatnam, IBM Consulting now operates FutureNow Centres across 15 locations in India, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Mysore, Noida, Pune, and Visakhapatnam.
The latest investment also aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s broader push to attract global technology firms and build a strong AI and digital services ecosystem in the state.
