Key takeaways

  • AttoTude has reduced its IC design cycles by over 50%, achieving completion in under six weeks.
  • The reduction in design time is attributed to the expanded use of Keysight's EDA software across AttoTude's design workflow.
  • AttoTude consistently achieves first-pass silicon success, meeting specifications for high data rates up to 800G.
  • The use of advanced simulation capabilities allows for high design accuracy and aids in assessing trade-offs before finalising designs.

Keysight Technologies said that AttoTude, a semiconductor company developing ASICs for AI and hyperscale data centres, has cut its IC design cycles by more than 50%.

AttoTude achieved the reduction after expanding its use of Keysight’s EDA software across its full IC design workflow. The companies said the approach supports advanced RF, sub-THz, and THz tape-outs for AI and hyperscale data centres.

AttoTude now completes designs in less than six weeks using Keysight’s Advanced Design System (ADS) platform. Keysight said its designs have also consistently met specifications on first silicon. The company develops ICs supporting per-lane data rates of 200G, 400G, and 800G.

Richard Chan, ASIC Architect and Development Leader at AttoTude, said the platform requires high design accuracy and simulation fidelity. He added that the software has helped AttoTude accelerate development while achieving first-pass silicon success.

AttoTude’s interconnect platform covers signalling frequencies from 100 GHz to 3 THz. Its on-chip interconnects operate as waveguides, making electromagnetic simulation a key part of the design process.

The company uses Keysight’s design data management software to maintain a single source of truth. This gives engineers traceability and visibility across the design environment.

Nilesh Kamdar, General Manager of Keysight EDA, said the company measures success through customer outcomes. He said AttoTude shows what faster movement from design to silicon can enable for AI infrastructure.

The software also allows AttoTude’s team to assess design trade-offs before committing designs to silicon. Simulation-to-measurement correlation helps the team verify that results reflect actual performance.

Keysight said global semiconductor revenue is forecast to exceed $1.3 trillion in 2026. AI semiconductors are expected to account for 30% of the market, the company said.
