OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT for Financial Services, a version of ChatGPT Work built for financial institutions. The product combines financial data with GPT-6 Astra, OpenAI’s latest advanced LLM, to help teams with research, financial modelling and client materials.
ChatGPT for Financial Services is available to eligible financial institutions. OpenAI plans to use feedback from its financial services partners to improve the product and extend it into other areas of the industry.
The product includes financial datasets from Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News, and Crunchbase. The data covers earnings transcripts, financial statements, company fundamentals, and private companies.
OpenAI says the data is indexed and hosted on its infrastructure, allowing the system to provide citations that let users trace figures and claims back to their sources.
ChatGPT for Financial Services also supports integrations with existing subscriptions from S&P Capital IQ, LSEG, MSCI, Dow Jones Factiva, and Moody’s. Through shared sign-in and entitlement integrations, users will be able to access data they are already authorised to use through their ChatGPT accounts.
The product will initially serve investment banking and equity research, with Morgan Stanley and Evercore serving as design partners. They identified data access and work product creation as key requirements for financial teams.
“The promise of frontier research becomes real when it helps our people do the work that matters for our clients,” Morgan Stanley said in a statement. The firm added that it is working with OpenAI to bring the technology into company research, analysis and advice.
Evercore said it is working with OpenAI to apply the technology to client questions while maintaining its existing standards for judgement and advice.
GPT-6 Astra is integrated into the product for information retrieval, financial reasoning, and artefact generation. OpenAI said the model can work with figures, tables and supporting notes in financial documents, perform analysis, and turn the results into documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
The product also allows administrators to publish Excel, Word, and PowerPoint templates for their firms. Teams can use firm-approved templates and style guides to create valuation models, research notes, and pitchbooks in the organisation’s format.
For enterprise controls, ChatGPT for Financial Services builds on ChatGPT Enterprise features including SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, and role-based access controls. OpenAI said it does not use business data to train its models by default, and it is encrypted at rest and in transit. Firms can also configure workspace retention and export supported workspace logs through the OpenAI Compliance Platform.
The product supports more than 50 connectors, including Datasite, Box, Preqin, FactSet, and Intapp. OpenAI said it has also optimised some widely used financial-services MCP connectors to reduce troubleshooting when accessing provider data.
