Perplexity AI has increased its revenue fivefold to $500 million from $100 million, CEO Aravind Srinivas said, as the company expanded its team by 34%.
“We just 5X’ed revenue from $100M to $500M with only 34% growth in team size,” Srinivas wrote in a LinkedIn post.
The company expects to double its revenue again in 2026 while maintaining a relatively small team.
The growth has primarily come from its Computer product, an integrated AI system that combines tools, files, memory, and models.
Perplexity introduced Personal Computer to run on a dedicated Mac mini, operating continuously while linking to a user’s local applications and its own servers. The company said it acts as a digital proxy that can access files, manage tasks, and coordinate tools across devices.
Computer can research, design, code, deploy, and manage any project comprehensively. Overall, it can allocate tasks across 19 different models.
“We had 4 people and no revenue with AI at our fingertips. The pivot to Computer is actually a full circle. Founders are using it to grow companies that matter to the economy and their communities,” Srinivas said.
He described the current direction as a return to its roots, with founders and small businesses using the platform to build companies.“Everyone here works at a small business, and everything we build is for people who build,” Srinivas said.
Perplexity's annual recurring revenue rose from $16 million to $305 million over the past two years, according to a recent report by the Financial Times, which also noted that the figure had exceeded $450 million as of March.
Founded in 2022, Perplexity AI is an AI-based answer engine that delivers direct responses to user queries. The company last raised about $200 million in a funding round in 2025 that valued the company at roughly $20 billion.
