Persistent Systems and Kong Inc. have announced a strategic partnership to help enterprises securely scale AI systems from experimentation to production.

The collaboration will combine Persistent’s engineering and enterprise modernisation expertise with Kong’s API and AI connectivity platform to help businesses manage, govern and integrate AI systems across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

The companies said enterprises are increasingly facing challenges not in accessing AI models, but in managing how APIs, data pipelines, AI models and applications connect and operate at scale. Through the partnership, both firms aim to provide a unified “control layer” for enterprises to securely govern AI systems while reducing operational complexity.

The partnership will also support organisations in modernising legacy API environments and securely deploying generative and agentic AI workflows. According to the companies, the system will include safeguards such as personally identifiable information (PII) protection, centralised access management, policy-based controls and end-to-end observability tools.

“Enterprise AI will not be defined by who has access to models. It will be defined by how effectively organisations can govern how intelligence flows across their systems,” said Anand Krishnan, Executive Vice President, Persistent Systems.

“APIs are no longer just integration points. They are the control layer for enterprise AI.”

Meanwhile, Ken Kim, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Development at Kong, said APIs are becoming critical infrastructure for connecting AI services, data and model endpoints across enterprise environments.

“At Kong, we are building the AI connectivity infrastructure so organisations can secure, manage, govern and scale traffic across APIs and AI workloads on any model or any cloud,” Kim noted.

The companies also stated that the collaboration would help enterprises move beyond isolated AI use cases and build production-grade AI systems with improved governance, security and compliance capabilities.
