Techno Digital, the digital infrastructure arm of Techno Electric and Engineering Company Limited (TEECL), has commissioned a new Mumbai Edge Data Centre in Mahalakshmi, South Mumbai, in partnership with RailTel Corporation of India, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise.

The facility, announced on May 19, is fully operational and built to Rated-3 infrastructure standards, designed to deliver enterprise-grade reliability through a cost-efficient, right-sized infrastructure footprint. The Mumbai Edge Data Centre is an addition to the city’s digital infrastructure landscape that targets the latency-sensitive demands of one of India's most concentrated financial and commercial hubs.

The data centre addresses a long-standing pain point for enterprises operating across Mumbai’s major financial districts. Situated in Mahalakshmi, the facility offers latency of less than 150 microseconds from BSE in Nariman Point and Fort, and less than 250 microseconds from NSE in BKC, enabling markedly improved responsiveness for real-time applications. Its proximity to key business districts, including BKC, Worli, Lower Parel, and Fort, means enterprises can deploy infrastructure far closer to their operations, improving execution speed and overall system performance, the company said in a statement.

The facility thrives on RailTel’s nationwide fibre network spanning over 63,000 kilometres, ensuring broad connectivity across the country. Its location near Mumbai’s cable landing stations is vital for its capacity for high-speed global connectivity, while maintaining low-latency domestic performance. The centre has also been built to support sovereign and compliance-driven workloads, an increasingly important consideration for enterprises navigating India's evolving data governance landscape.

Following Mumbai, the company plans to launch five additional Edge locations “in quick succession”, with a long-term roadmap to scale to 102 locations over the next three to four years, totalling 200MW.

Ankit Saraiya, Director and CEO of Techno Digital, said, “As India’s digital economy scales, infrastructure requirements are evolving beyond capacity to include proximity and performance. The Mumbai Edge Data Centre is designed to align infrastructure with demand centres, particularly in high-performance environments such as financial services and real-time platforms.”

Meanwhile, Amit Agrawal, President of Techno Digital, said, “In a city like Mumbai, where milliseconds can impact outcomes, infrastructure placement becomes critical. This facility combines low-latency architecture, strong connectivity, and sovereign infrastructure to support performance-critical workloads ranging from trading and fintech platforms to real-time AI inferencing and enterprise applications. It is designed to deliver the reliability and responsiveness required in latency-sensitive environments.”
