Automatic test equipment (ATE) designer and manufacturer Teradyne has opened a new office in Bengaluru to support India’s semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. The office will focus on customer engagement, applications support, training, and strategic partnerships.

Located in the Vesta Building at Bagmane Cosmos Tech Park, the Bengaluru office will support chipmakers and electronics manufacturers. It will also help Teradyne support India’s growing manufacturing, packaging, and semiconductor testing capabilities.

The company said the move strengthens its long-term commitment to India’s semiconductor and electronics manufacturing industry. Its India strategy is led by Country Manager Alpa Sood.

“India is at an inflexion point in its semiconductor journey,” Greg Smith, President and CEO of Teradyne, said in a statement. He said the permanent office reflects the company’s long-term commitment to the market.

The office comes as India increases investment in semiconductor manufacturing under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). Teradyne said AI is also driving demand across the semiconductor supply chain, from wafers to data centres.

Karnataka IT and BT Minister Priyank Kharge, who inaugurated the office, said Teradyne’s entry strengthens the state’s semiconductor value chain by adding test and measurement capabilities. In a post on X, Kharge said the investment validates Karnataka’s ecosystem across semiconductor design, prototyping, fabless innovation, OSAT and advanced manufacturing.

“As India accelerates investment in domestic fabrication, packaging, and test capabilities, we intend to be a trusted partner,” Smith said. He added that a local presence would help Teradyne “move at the speed this industry demands”.

Teradyne designs and manufactures automated test equipment and robotics systems. Its semiconductor and electronics testing solutions cover the AI device supply chain from wafer to data centre.
