12 Nano GCCs Building Core Product, Deep Tech Capabilities in India

India’s GCC (global capability centre) narrative is evolving fast. Beyond scale and cost efficiency, a new cohort of global companies is using India to build core product IP, data platforms, AI infrastructure, and semiconductor design capabilities.

Calling 2025 a defining moment for India’s GCC ecosystem, Piyush Kedia, Co-founder and CEO of SME-focused workforce solutions company InCommon, says the year firmly dismantled the long-standing perception of India as merely a back-office destination. As a result, India has seen a growing influx of Nano GCCs.

Nano GCCs are capability-rich, leadership-heavy hubs, typically housing 50–150 skilled experts working in advanced domains.

“The most interesting work we see now is product, data, and AI sitting inside India pods that own real outcomes—not just volume,” he tells AIM.

Kedia notes that this shift has been reinforced by changes in the global operating environment. Policy uncertainty in the US, including tighter visa proposals such as H-1B changes and the Halting International Relocation of Employees Act, has altered how companies think about talent and location strategy.
