NatWest Group India has evolved into the bank’s largest employee base outside the UK, with more than 18,500 colleagues across Gurugram, Chennai, and Bengaluru. As the Group’s GCC, it claims to play a central role in enterprise-wide digital transformation through Digital X, leading engineering, AI, data, analytics, cyber, and operations. 

India teams also lead the bank’s Data Technology function, designing and operating the enterprise data platforms. It also develops strategic platforms such as the AWS-based Kepler AI platform to enable secure, scalable AI deployment across the organisation. The team is led by Ruchika Panesar, Chief Information Officer, Functions and Country Head for NatWest Group India.

Backed by more than £1 billion in annual investment in data and technology, NatWest has rolled out secure GenAI tools across the enterprise, with nearly 15,000 engineers using AI coding assistants and AI powering over 19% of the bank’s analytical models. 

The company also collaborates with organisations including OpenAI, AWS, IBM, Accenture, and fintech partners to accelerate AI adoption and digital transformation. Through the NatWest Academy, AI ethics training, and partnerships such as the NatWest FinTech Frontier Program with IIT Delhi, the company continues to build more out of India.
