AIM 100: India's Most Influential People Shaping AI in 2026
Harshil Mathur
CEO & Co-Founder, Razorpay

Harshil Mathur has helped position India at the forefront of AI-powered commerce by integrating AI with the country’s digital payments infrastructure. In the last 12 months, Razorpay partnered with NPCI and OpenAI to launch India’s first agentic payments platform, embedding UPI into ChatGPT and enabling users to discover products, make decisions, and complete transactions directly within AI conversations.
Under his leadership, Razorpay has also introduced an AI-native payments ecosystem through its Agent Studio, built on Anthropic’s Claude Agent SDK, allowing businesses to develop autonomous commerce experiences. Leading consumer brands including Zomato, PVR INOX, Vodafone Idea, Bluestone, and Honasa Consumer have begun piloting these AI-driven payment journeys.
Mathur believes India’s AI opportunity lies in moving beyond AI as an information tool towards AI as an engine for action. By combining AI with India Stack and UPI, he sees India uniquely positioned to build transaction-enabled AI systems that can drive economic activity at population scale.
