Kavita Bhatia has played a pivotal role in translating India's AI ambitions into national-scale execution. Over the past year, she has led the operational delivery of the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, bringing together representatives from over 100 countries behind the New Delhi Declaration while helping secure more than$200 billion in AI-related commitments.
She has also been instrumental in implementing the IndiaAI Mission, supporting the rollout of more than 38,000 subsidised GPUs and the expansion of AIKosh to over 11,000 datasets. She has spearheaded the Emerging Technologies Division at the Ministry of Information and Technology, implementing the National Data Governance Policy. Her work has also strengthened AI skilling initiatives in tier-2 and tier-3 cities while reinforcing India's leadership through the Global Partnership on AI.
Bhatia believes India has crossed an important milestone, building sovereign AI infrastructure, indigenous models, and public datasets that position the country as an equal contributor to the global AI ecosystem.
