Ahead of the 2023 FIA Formula 1 World Championship, Qualcomm Technologies Inc., and Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team have announced their strategic partnership to leverage Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform to create unique fan experiences—digitally and in-person. In addition, the team is also expecting to deploy Snapdragon and other Qualcomm technologies to create a smart space at their campus in the UK.
The partnership was announced on the team’s official website on the day of the launch of Mercedes’ 2023 car, the Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E PERFORMANCE, which is set to carry the Snapdragon logo.
The collaboration between the two enterprises is set to be multifaceted in that Qualcomm’s technologies would be used in the design and critical race car developments throughout the 2023 calendar.
Not a Novice
This is not the first time that Qualcomm Technologies Inc., has partnered with a Formula 1 team. For the 2022 season, they partnered with Scuderia Ferrari to drive the team’s digital transformation. As part of the partnership, Qualcomm also worked with Ferrari to design, develop and integrate the team’s digital cockpits.
Furthermore, with the Snapdragon Digital Chassis, Qualcomm was able to provide the team with open and scalable cloud-connected platforms needed for next-generation vehicles, including telematics and connectivity, digital cockpit, and ADAS functions. The Snapdragon technology utilises a unified architecture to deliver enhanced safety and immersive digital experiences.
