Italian open-source electronics platform Arduino has launched its new Edge AI Invention Lab at the Student Innovation Lab (SIL) in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi, expanding its ‘Physical AI for All’ initiative aimed at making edge AI and physical AI education more accessible across India.

The new facility will provide students with hands-on experience in building real-world edge AI and physical AI applications through project-based learning, hackathons, interdisciplinary research, innovation challenges, and industry collaborations.

The company said its initiative aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical applications by combining innovation labs with Arduino hardware, student workshops, digital learning platforms, academic partnerships, and industry-focused curricula.

“Arduino has spent more than two decades making technology accessible through open-source innovation. With our Physical AI initiative, we are extending that mission by helping universities create hands-on learning environments where students can build the next generation of intelligent systems,” said Guneet Bedi, Senior Director of Sales at Qualcomm Technologies.

Prof Amartansh Dubey from IIT Delhi added that the collaboration would help students turn innovative ideas into practical AI solutions with real-world impact.

The IIT Delhi lab joins Arduino’s growing network of AI innovation hubs in India. Similar centres have already been established at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, while new labs are planned at Adani University, Symbiosis Institute of Technology, and Shiv Nadar School in Faridabad.

According to the company, the initiative has reached more than 23,000 students, developers, educators, and innovators within six months through over 100 workshops, bootcamps, and innovation programmes. The company has also trained more than 1,000 educators across 25 faculty development programmes and partnered with over 300 universities and higher education institutions.

To strengthen AI education further, Arduino has developed a 120-hour credit-based Edge AI curriculum with education partner STEMLORE Innovators. The company is also supporting the establishment of 10 Edge AI Centres of Excellence across state technical universities while continuing to promote local manufacturing.
