MKS Inc, a global provider of enabling technologies for advanced industries, has inaugurated new Vacuum Solutions Division (VSD) and Photonics Solutions Division (PSD) engineering laboratories at its global capability centre (GCC) in Bengaluru, strengthening its presence in India’s semiconductor and high-technology ecosystem.

The new laboratories aim to expand MKS’ product development and engineering capabilities in foundational semiconductor technologies while leveraging India’s growing talent pool in advanced engineering domains.

The vacuum engineering lab will support development and testing in technologies such as remote plasma sources, ozone systems, gas analysis, and vacuum measurement and control systems. Meanwhile, the photonics engineering lab will focus on the design and development of next-generation optical and photonic solutions in collaboration with global customers.

“We welcome the decision of MKS to establish its engineering laboratories in Bengaluru. Choosing Karnataka for advanced engineering domains such as vacuum and photonics solutions reflects the depth of our talent pool and the strength of our innovation ecosystem,” Manjula N, IAS, Secretary, Department of Electronics, IT, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, said in a statement.

Company executives said the Bengaluru GCC plays a strategic role in accelerating innovation and strengthening collaboration with global customers.

“The addition of the VSD and PSD labs deepens our engineering capabilities and enables us to leverage Karnataka’s exceptional technical talent,” Eric Taranto, Executive Vice President and General Manager, VSD at MKS Inc, noted.

Highlighting the importance of the region’s engineering ecosystem, Naveen Goudar, Vice President and General Manager, India, MKS, said, “Karnataka’s engineering strength is instrumental in shaping our next-generation technologies. We believe our GCC will play a pivotal role in driving customer-oriented innovation and supporting the semiconductor ecosystem in India and beyond.”

MKS offers technology solutions to edge semiconductor manufacturing, electronics and packaging, and speciality industrial applications.
