Razorpay has partnered with Sarvam AI to build voice-first conversational commerce experiences, marking a shift towards AI-led transactions that allow users to discover, order, and pay using natural speech in their preferred language.
The collaboration brings together Sarvam’s full-stack, Indic-language AI models and agentic systems with Razorpay’s payments infrastructure to enable end-to-end transactions within a single conversation. The companies said the initiative aims to simplify digital commerce for millions of Indians who remain underserved by traditional app-based interfaces.
As part of the rollout, Swiggy will be the first partner, allowing users to order food through voice interactions via Sarvam’s chat platform, Indus. The AI assistant will handle the entire journey—from understanding user intent to placing orders and completing payments using Razorpay’s agentic payments stack.
Despite having over 950 million internet users and more than 450 million digital payment users, only around 200 million Indians currently shop online, and this is the gap companies aim to address.
Shashank Kumar, MD and Co-Founder of Razorpay, said the next phase of digital commerce will be driven by intuitive, language-first experiences. “For millions of Indians, interacting in their own language is far more natural than typing. By combining conversational AI with payments, we are enabling systems that not only understand intent but also complete transactions seamlessly,” he added.
According to Pratyush Kumar, CEO and Co-Founder of Sarvam, the partnership represents a critical step in making conversational interfaces actionable. “As more workflows shift to AI-driven conversations, enabling those conversations to execute real-world actions like payments becomes essential,” he noted.
Beyond food delivery, the partnership is also extending to enterprise use cases. The companies have piloted a voice assistant for The Derma Co website, allowing users to browse products and complete purchases through voice commands. Businesses will be able to integrate similar capabilities into their own platforms.
Moreover, Sarvam’s AI stack will be embedded into Razorpay’s Agent Studio, enabling developers to build multilingual AI agents capable of handling customer interactions and transactions across Hindi, Hinglish, and other Indian languages.
