Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has signed a strategic partnership with Finnish tyre manufacturer Nokian Tyres to modernise its IT operations using artificial intelligence, marking another deal for the Indian IT services major as it looks to position itself as an AI-led technology partner for global enterprises.

Under the engagement, TCS will expand Nokian Tyres’ use of AI across application management, development and onsite support services.

The partnership will cover end-to-end application management, including development, maintenance and support for systems used across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, commercial and corporate functions, according to a stock exchange filing on June 4.

The companies, however, did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement.

The deal comes at a time when large IT services firms are increasingly pitching AI-led transformation projects to manufacturing clients, moving beyond pilot programmes to embed automation and AI into core business operations.

"This strategic partnership with TCS will enable Nokian Tyres to have a globally unified, agile, and efficient operating model that supports business needs,” Timmy McLellan, Chief Information Officer, Nokian Tyres, said in a statement. He added that the partnership would also create a foundation for wider adoption of automation, data driven solutions and artificial intelligence.

Nokian Tyres, listed on Nasdaq Helsinki, reported net sales of €1.4 billion in 2025 and employs around 4,000 people globally. The company manufactures premium tyres for passenger vehicles, trucks and heavy machinery.

According to TCS, the collaboration aim to improve the efficiency, resilience and scalability of Nokian Tyres' IT environment. The company said AI and agentic automation will be integrated into IT operations to accelerate issue resolution, lower operational costs and strengthen digital infrastructure.

Anupam Singhal, President and Head of Manufacturing at TCS, said the partnership reflects a broader shift in manufacturing towards AI-enabled operations and intelligent digital ecosystems.

“We are building a modern, insight-driven technology foundation to help Nokian Tyres accelerate innovation, respond faster to market shifts, and elevate manufacturing outcomes,” he said.

The agreement further strengthens TCS’ footprint in the Nordic region, where the company has operated since 1991 across Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The region has emerged as a key market for engineering, manufacturing and industrial transformation projects as enterprises increase investments in AI and automation.
