Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched an Oracle AI Data Platform Lab and Center of Excellence in Kolkata, as the country's largest IT services exporter looks to strengthen its capabilities around enterprise AI adoption and data modernisation.

The facility, set up at Kolkata's Delta Park Lords, has been developed in collaboration with Oracle and aims to help enterprises address challenges such as fragmented data environments, slow analytics cycles, limited AI scalability, and operational inefficiencies.

TCS plans to establish similar Oracle AI Data Platform Labs and Centres of Excellence in four more Indian cities over the next three years.

The move comes as IT services firms increasingly invest in specialised AI centres, labs, and industry-focused platforms to help clients move beyond pilot projects and deploy AI at scale.

According to TCS, the new facility will use reusable architectures, industry-specific solutions and accelerators to help customers convert enterprise data into actionable insights and automate business processes using AI.

The lab will leverage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle Autonomous AI Database, and Oracle's enterprise AI capabilities.

“The facility is designed to accelerate the journey from ideation to experimentation to full-scale deployment,” Sudipto Ray, Vice President and Global Head, Oracle Practice, TCS, said in a statement. “By harnessing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and the latest advancements in AI, the lab will help customers reimagine their operational strategies both in data analytics and rapid application development.”

TCS currently has a centralised pool of 26,000 Oracle-skilled professionals in India supporting client AI programmes.

The launch also reflects the growing importance of partnerships between large IT services companies and global technology vendors as enterprises seek integrated AI, cloud, and data solutions rather than standalone deployments.
