The Western Union Company has launched a new global capability centre (GCC) in Hyderabad in partnership with HCLTech, marking a major step in the company’s global transformation through advanced AI, a platform-based operating model, and engineering excellence.
The state-of-the-art facility, inaugurated by Western Union president and CEO Devin McGranahan, and HCLTech CEO and MD C Vijayakumar, will function as a global hub for technology, engineering and operations.
“This milestone marks a significant step forward in our valued partnership with Western Union. It underscores HCLTech’s strong digital, cloud and AI capabilities in accelerating business and technology transformation for financial services and GCCs,” C. Vijayakumar said in a statement.
Along with Western Union’s Pune tech centre, the Hyderabad GCC will support next-generation payments infrastructure, enhance digital consumer experiences and build digital and AI capabilities across the organisation.
The centre will leverage HCLTech’s AI-powered platforms, including AI Force, to drive AI-led innovation and accelerate Western Union’s shift towards a modern, digital-first operating model.
“This centre represents an important step in Western Union’s transformation journey and expansion in India. Through our strategic partnership with HCLTech, we are combining deep engineering expertise with advanced AI capabilities to go beyond payments, accelerate innovation and deliver seamless, secure experiences for millions of customers worldwide,” McGranahan, president and CEO of Western Union, remarked.
